GW. Finding Balance

"Tongue Up"
The essence is - that's enough to instantly improve your balance. Put the tongue on the roof of your mouth and your balance improves.

You can explain it via the rooting of your energies (or something similar in Yoga or Tai Chi), via brain processing data in a lot more complex ways than we anticipated (amazing video by the way!) or something else entirely.

You know the day you're practicing the snatch and you just keep losing the bar forward or back and although you have plenty of power, it's just not happening. Now one of the main reasons will be that your technique sucks and you need to strip some weight off and practice, practice, practice...

Next time you're in such a position - put the tongue on the roof of your mouth, fix your eyes on an object straight in front of you and lift. More often than not - it will be one of your best lifts.

Why the eyes? Here's a neat little test to find out how important our sight is to balance and why gazing around looking at random stuff is inferior to staring at a spot:

  • Stand on one foot
  • Raise on the toes and balance. Not too bad right?
  • Now close your eyes. How's that?
  • Try to balance on one foot on toes and look straight ahead at a fixed object. Better?
  • Bonus: While doing the step before, put the tongue on the roof of your mouth. Now we're talking!

Practicing freestanding handstands and the balance is off - try the same thing (look between your hands though) and you'll get a few more seconds out of it or will walk a bit further. Just don't forget - abs tight, squeeze the butt.

Amongst other applications: Ring work, especially learning the mature support; "pistols"; handstand walking; olympic lifting (if not proficient enough).

Now I should go write a book - "Better Balance in 3 Easy Steps", create a "magic balance trainer" or "MBT", trademark it and sell the super awesome system for 3 easy payments of $29.99.

Fedex stopped by to drop off some goodies - probably the squat stands, but I wasn't there :(
Monday they'll drop it off and the bumpers are arriving.

Rested on friday. Walking was a tough option of moving around. Need me a electro scooter!

Matt - the "Yelena" was funny as hell yet very ingenious! Bravo!

Yay for cider, that's my drink of choice. Try the dark and dry one! Spent most of the day doing handstands, front rolls, and back bends. Got to a solid point of doing back bend walk overs with a mat under my feet. Did a few from standing, but didn't get the momentum I needed. Next time. Next time. At least today I felt like I was doing something, which is better than whining about being hurt and sitting at home. See you all tonight!

If you're in a not good position and have no money to get out from that point, you would require to take the loan. Because it will aid you unquestionably. I get car loan every year and feel fine because of this.
