Athletes & Warnings

Below is an almost complete list of athletes & a Warning to all potential RTG competitors.

On Sept 1st the roster will be locked. That means that you won't be able to trade your spot, change your class (Rx will be able to switch to CrossFit on the day of the event or during the competition itself).

If you signed up, but your name is missing - send email to Leo@CrossFitEvolution.com ASAP (before Sept 1) & we'll fix it. If you signed up, but don't contact Leo by Sept 1 and your name is missing - we'll refund you the registration, but you will be unable to compete.

Warning (RTG only): RTG Class this year will have a minimum of 2 short tests/tasks starting as early as before the first WoD. There will be a MINIMUM standard on performance in those tests. Failure to preform the task required will result in DQ (same applies to WoD's). That means that potentiall you might not be able to participate in any WoD's if you fail the first test. (Tests will be scored & it'll affect the ultimate standings, just like a regular WoD would).

You can all guess the potential tests - Muscle Ups, HSPU's, Pistols, Deadlifts, Cleans, Snatches, Shoulder or Ground-To-Overhead. To pass the tests you don't need to ace it (like a 4 mins 30 MU's, 50 HSPU in a row, 500+/300+ DL or 300+/170+ Clean etc), but if you can't do a strict Muscle-up, strict HSPU's at least on plates, 315/225 Deadlift, 225/135 Clean, 155/100 lbs Snatch etc - you probably shouldn't participate in RTG or you have a great chance of not competing. Ultimately it's your call - here's a warning though. Not trying to scare anyone - rather open your eyes to reality.

That doesn't mean that heavy Snatches, MU's, HSPU's, Deadlifts will be limited to Tests/Tasks only. If you can't perform a minimum standard in a WoD - that can and probably will lead to DQ. (Events are 90% finalized, but there's always room for some adjustment).

If you're asking - WHY? Because we can. Because it'd be fun. Certainly adds to the nervousness of some 'til the events are posted. Think of it as in being a really good sniper not having the endurance to get to a location. It's irrelevant how well he can shoot. Or better yet - What if your anchestor can't climb up a branch running from a predator - who cares how sexy his abs were or how handsome he was? Exactly!

We wanted to penalize the inability to perform across broad time & modal domains.

You have till Sept 1st to switch your class if desired. Contact leo@crossfitevolution.com.

160 Athletes. "Iron Curtain" is full

Not enjoying to be the bearer of bad news for some of you - there will not be an open registration tonight, Fri Aug 6th. To ensure the event is fully equipped, staffed & organized - I've worked with many Florida affiliates this past few days & by now there are no more spots to open up. 160 athletes are registered and will compete on October 9th.

For all those whose dreams are crushed - I truly apologize & I wish we can get everyone in, but it would be a disservice to everyone.

Hope you will come out, watch the event & have fun!

Also check out OPT Big Dawg Challenge in Naples in Nov...ember!

Registration will reopen this Friday night, Aug 6 @ 9 pm!

There will be 25-30 slots open. After that it'll be capped for good.

Good luck!

Good News!

Chatting with OPT about the programming & timelines. Looks like we'll be able to open up to 150-160 athletes. So it'll mean 35-40 more slots open (there's a few slots that are being bartered & etc). Working hard to get you folks in while providing a great "fun" experience for all. Looks like all classes will have 4 events this year!

Give us a few more days to massage the schematics & we'll let you know asap when the registration will open back up!

And thanks for all the great support - several folks have contacted us volunteering & willing to judge. Keep 'em coming!

Want More Slots? Help Us Find Good Judges!

If you're a trainer/affiliate owner & you have athletes competing in Iron Curtain or just want to help out - we'll need more judges for the Iron Curtain if we want to open up more athlete slots! Spread the word!

We'd like the judges to be Level 1 certified or have a good amount of CF experience under their belt & possibly personal training/athletic training experience to make the event fair & bad ass!

Volunteers are needed too!

Want to judge/volunteer? Contact leo@crossfitevolution.com

Judges/volunteers will get hooked up with food, water & event t-shirt.

Registration Is Closed

"Iron Curtain 2010" is sold out in less than 6 hrs. Thank you for such awesome support! For all those who couldn't get in - I anticipated the registration to take 3-7 days. With it being capped so fast I will do my best to line up extra judges, tighten the heats and open 20 more slots at best. This year we're planning to... be tight & on time. Stretching those times will be rough, otherwise I'd love all you to compete.

All I can say here:

Follow this Blog & the FB page - I didn't plan on having more openings originally, but with such demand - had to rethink it. Give me some time to plan it out & I'll open it up to 20 more people or so.

First come first serve of course - so watch it like a hawk!

Iron Curtain Registration

Registration Opens Friday

"Iron Curtain 2010" will be open to 100 total competitors in 3 classes. Registration will be open Friday morning, July 30th.

As of right now CFEvolution members are the only ones signing up (there has to be a perk, right?). It's expected to have 70-75 slots (22 people are registered right now) open to everyone once it's open to the public.

Judging by the interest - it'll be best to sign up earlier rather than wait since it might not be open for long.

The Challenge should be epic this year. Drago would be proud.
