Final Results

The biggest change - Rachel Reichert took 2nd in the Rx'ed Division & 3rd - Leah Anderson due to a mistake in counting.

The 30+ times on the Chipper were recorded when people were able to run out the door before the 30 min mark (exception was the girls RTG heat).

Scoring System

Here's the scoring system for the Iron Curtain Challenge:

1st place - 100 pts
2nd place - 95 pts
3rd place - 92 pts
4th place - 90 pts
5th place - 89 pts
6th place - 88 pts... etc

Thus the winner of the event & the top athletes are slightly rewarded for their stellar performance.

Athletes with highest overall score in the Rx & RTG classes will be crowned as Champions.

In case of a tie - the placing in the Chipper will decide the winner. In case of a tie in a Chipper, the Triplet will be a deciding factor & so forth.

The Chipper

Extra Details:

1. Athletes - bring your own lifting shoes, tape, jump ropes, wrist wraps - whatever you need!
2. Swapping in and out weightlifting shoes during the Chipper is fine.
3. We will try to condense the Singlet, Couplet & Triplet into a tighter timeframe to let everyone try and finish the Chipper without hitting the cut-off at 30 mins. Not a guarantee though.

Details on Scoring system coming later today!

T-shirts & Picking Your Class

The Challenge T-shirts are in! They do shrink quite a bit after the first wash & have an athletic fit after that (a bit smaller than normal sizes). They're very nice soft ring spun cotton tee's. The excess shirts after athletes get theirs - will be for sale at $10 per shirt. Drago is cool!

Now let's discuss picking your class. Here's some thoughts that can help you:

1. If you've been doing CF for less than 6 months, don't have a long history of athletics, it's your first CF competition or if you can't complete any movements of the Rx class - choose CrossFit Class (aka Scaled). Have fun, enjoy the camaraderie & experience a CF competition!

2. If you're not quite sure if you can do all the movements from the RTG class or have never competed in CF before - go for the Rx Class. Make the experience positive. Finish all the WoD's & improve for the next Competition (Sectional CF Games Qualifiers in March). Rising to the occasion happens and you indeed might perform better than normal, but generally peopl default to their level of training. If you have a glaring gap - it will be revealed. DNF is generally not cool.

3. If you're bad ass and there's nothing that can crush you, you have no weaknesses and Chuck Norris is scared of you - RTG is right for you.

Hopefully that helps to pick the right class for you.

If you have last minute questions - post it here in comments or reach me on Facebook - Leonid Soubbotine.

P.S. The Chipper Standards coming Thursday morning!

The Triplet Standards

First of all - ladies will lift with Ladies bars, not the Mens barbells!

And here's the video of the Triplet Standards:

Extra details:

You can not fall off the wall during the HSPU or it'll be a NO REP. If your feet come off the wall, but then return to it - that's perfectly good.

You can take off & put on shoes during the workout if desired - so if you'll do MU's & HSPU barefoot & then pistols in weightlifting shoes to help with ankle flexibility & balance - that's legit.

Timelines

Here's the rough timelines for Friday & Saturday:

Friday
4pm - 7pm - Registration

Saturday
7:30 am - 8:30 am - Registration (athletes get their numbers, receive T-shirts)

All volunteers/judges - please be at the gym by 8:00 am.

9:00 am - Iron Curtain Begins.

9:30 am - 11 am - The Singlet

11 am - 12:30 pm - The Couplet

12:30 pm - 1:30 pm - The Triplet

1:30 pm - 2:15 pm - The Chipper (CrossFit Division - that's how we'll call the Scaled) - go all at once if under 30 people total or in 2 heats with 15 min head start for Heat 1.

2:30 pm - 4 pm - The Chipper Rx

4 pm - 5:30 pm - The Chipper RTG

6pm - Closing Ceremonies, Prizes, Fun

If the times during the workouts will be faster or we'll be able to run more people through more events (depending on how many judges we have) - timelines might get tighter & we'll finish a bit sooner.

The Triplet movement standards are coming on Wednesday morning.

The Singlet & The Couplet

Extra notes on the Singlet:
1. You can use belts, shoes, knee & wrist wraps of any kind.
2. Singlets are purely optional. If you have hairy legs - they're not recommended.
3. Warm-up area will be available to practice & warm-up before your heat starts.
4. Minimum weight jump is 5 lbs (2.5 lbs plate each side).
5. Judges will make sure the compliance with 2 second rule & they will give the signal "DOWN" to the athlete and a hand gesture - that will make sure the completion of the lift. Any lift where barbell comes down before the judges signal is a NO LIFT!

Extra notes on the Couplet:
1. It's Leo's most favorite event for it has the potential to be the most fun (read: painful) event.
2. Athlete can choose any damper setting & foot setting they want, but they can not change it once the workout starts.

3. Bouncing off the Dynamax ball will count as a NO REP.
